Donegal County Council rename the R242 Road to The R2D2
in reference to the beloved droid.

Sci-fi fantasy has now become reality with the new R2D2 road sign unveiled ahead
Inishowenā€™s inaugural ā€™May The Fourth Be With You ā€™ festival.
Councillor Jack Murray ā€˜used the forceā€™ to propose Donegal County Council rename the R242 to R2D2
in reference to the beloved droid.

The road name alteration was originally conceived as temporary change butĀ Donegal County Council
has since switched it make it a permanent one.
The road was renamed the R2D2 at a ceremony in Malin Head on the 15 April 2019.
